Time Warner

Time Warner inc is a leading media and entertainment company, whose business include interactive services, cable systmes, filmed entertainment, television newtworks and publishing.

Who owns it?
The founder of Time warner was because two businesses mergered togther to form one. The two businesses were Time inc. and Warner communications, hence the name Time warner which was then produced. The most influentional peopl in Time Warner are Richard D Parsons (chairman), Jeffrey L Bewkes ( president and CEO) and finally Wayne Pace (CFO).

AOL- A leading global web services company.

Time Warner Cable- A pioneer in the cable industry.
Home Box Office (HBO)- A premium television network.
Turner Broadcasting system- Operating leading brands in television entertainment and news.
Time inc- One of the largest content companies in the world, with a portfolio of approximately 125 titles.
Warner Bros entertainment- At the forefront of every aspect of the entertainment industry.

History of the institution:


1970's
Warner Communications was established in 1972.
In 1976, Nolan Bushnell sold his Atari company to Warner Communications for an estimated $28–32 million.
In 1975, Warner expanded and joined with American Express which held cable channels like MTV, Nickelodeon and the Movie channel.
1980's
In February 1983, Warner expanded their interests to baseball and brought 48 percent of the Pittsburgh Pirates for $10 dollars.
In 1985 Warner sold Atari games to Namco.
In 1987 Warner announced their merge with Time inc.
1990's
In the early 90's the two combined companies were named Time Warner.
In 1994 Time Warner repurchased Atari games.
2000's
In 2000 AOL brought Time Warner for $164 billion and a new company was created called AOL Time Warner.
AOL owned 55% of the new company.
In 2002 AOL reported a loss of $99 billion and then the company dropped AOL from the name.

Over the years Time Warner has devloped increasingly from buying and selling and even repurchasing big organisations in order for their to expand as well. This is a clever strategy as it gives Time Warner a better and bigger reputation for people all around the world.
